The USA Cheerleaders started back in 1987, not as the USA Cheerleaders, but known as the Maryland You are Beautiful Cheerleaders. The MYAB Cheerleaders were the first of its kind in which, they were a promotional team for the State of Maryland. They were under the Maryland You are Beautiful program, were they traveled around the state promoting Maryland as a great place to live, work, and play. The MYAB cheerleaders stayed together for all 8 years of the Governor William Donald Schaefer tenure.maryland-you-are-beautiful-cheerleaders-usa-cheerleaders-first-all-star-cheerleading-team-photo-1987-1995.jpg

After the tenure as the “Maryland You are Beautiful Cheerleaders”, the MYAB Cheerleaders changed their name to the USA Cheerleaders. After 7 months, they were asked to cheer for two professional teams in Baltimore, the Baltimore Spirit (professional indoor soccer) and the Baltimore Thunder (professional indoor lacrosse).

A few years later the Baltimore Blast came to ask if weteam1 would start a cheer/dance program for the newly named team, which was the Baltimore Blast, then renamed the Baltimore Spirit, then renamed back to the Baltimore Blast. The group stayed with the Blast until February 2006.

In 2003 we officially were acknowledged by the Governor Robert Erlich of the State of Maryland as one of Md’s most successful all volunteer sporting programs in the state as well as congratulating all of the USA Cheerleaders on a job well done.
